ASEAN and Governance
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a regional organization in Southeast Asia, established on 8 August 1967, stands as a remarkable testament to the power of regional cooperation and diplomacy in an increasingly interconnected world.

  • Conceptual Context

ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)
In 1977, economic cooperation and integration started gradually through the Preferential Trading Arrangement and an array of joint industrial initiatives.

ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC)
On 7 October 2003, the Declaration of ASEAN Concord II (Bali Concord II) made by ASEAN Leaders, gave a vision to establish ASEAN Community by 2020 with three pillars to maintain it.

ASEAN Political Security Community (APSC)
The vision of ASEAN is to enable better cooperation between the member states in a tranquil manner. ASEAN leaders had agreed on a vision which would then be carried out through each of the three pillars.
