What Will You Learn?

• The course is designed to provide a comprehensive explanation of the plastic pollution crisis, emphasizing the harm of the life cycle of plastic products, recent research and impacts related to plastic pollution, and the negative impact of plastic on the environment, health, and public welfare. This course will also explore the development of international agreements related to plastic pollution, such as the Global Plastics Treaty and the ASEAN Japan Action Agenda on Plastic Pollution.
• Throughout the course, students will gain insights into the importance of meaningful youth participation in tackling plastic pollution through advocacy and community campaign movements by promoting real solutions for plastic pollution. By fostering critical thinking and understanding of these interconnected issues, students will be equipped to evaluate and propose solutions that promote sustainability through plastic-free lifestyles and stronger regulations related to plastic reduction and mitigate the adverse effects of plastic pollution on local and global scales. The course aims to empower students with knowledge and skills to become young environmental leaders or advocates in addressing plastic waste issues in their communities and beyond.
