What Will You Learn?

  • Students will be able to define Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and explain their key principles and concepts.
  • Students will be able to recognize the importance of NBS in achieving environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
  • Students will be able to evaluate the role of NBS in global environmental and sustainability strategies.
  • Students will be able to identify the implementation of NBS among ASEAN Member States.

Course Content

CHAPTER 1: FUNDAMENTAL OF NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS
In this chapter, students will learn about the fundamental of nature-based solutions which consist of the explanation about the definition of nature-based solutions, the importance of nature-based solutions, key principles of nature-based solutions and the concern related to nature-based solutions.

  • FUNDAMENTAL OF NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS
  • POST-TEST

CHAPTER 2: MULTIPLE AND MULTI-SCALE BENEFITS AND UNWANTED IMPACTS FROM NBS
In this chapter, students will learn about multiple and multi-scale benefits in the social, economic and environmental dimensions in the fine-, local- and regional-scale. Other than that, students will also learn about the unwanted (trade offs) impacts from the implementation of NBS.

CHAPTER 3: THE STATE OF NBS IMPLEMENTATION IN SOUTHEAST ASIA
In this chapter, students will learn about the example of the NBS policy framework in Southeast Asia and the examples of the implementation of NBS among ASEAN Member States.
