Course Content

Chapter 1: Introduction to Project Management
Definition of Project ( Characteristics of a Project and Boundaries of a Project ) Project : A project is the result of an intervention or action to change the current situation to an ideal future situation with a specific start and finish date and allocation of resources. Characteristics of a Project Boundaries of a Project Definition of Project Management in general: The process and activity of planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources, procedures and protocols to achieve specific goals.

  • Purposes of Project Management

Chapter 2: Problem Mapping
Problem identification -what is problem identification? Identifying the root cause of a problem. Developing a detailed problem statement -how to identify a problem? Stakeholders Identification -Individuals, groups or organization that can affect or be affected by a project -Who can be stakeholders? E.g: NGOs, government bodies, local community. -How to identify stakeholders? Brainstorm. Ask questions. E.g: who’s the end user? Who is actively involved? Who is the local community? Defining of Scope -Why do we need to define the scope of a project? To set the constraints and goals. To act as a guideline on boundaries for which the project will apply. Can make budgeting and scheduling easier -Goals and Objectives(SMART framework) -Specific(relates to scope), Measurable(or quantifiable), Attainable, Realistic, Timely Identification of Key Performance Indicators(KPIs) -Quantifiable indicators. Must be able to compare them over time -E.g. : Number of people that will be affected, Amount of income that can be generated

Chapter 3: Resources Management
Time Management -Importance of time management. To complete the project in time. To avoid extra costs on project implementation -How to manage time in a project? Proper delegation of tasks, Pareto Rule(80/20) -Tools that can be used for effective time management. -E.g. : Gantt chart Financial Management -managing of a project’s cost, revenue and profit -Importance. To keep track of the expenses. To avoid any unnecessary expenses. Keep project on track -How to manage finance during a project? Proper allocation of budget for various expenses. Document expenses. Daily/weekly recap -Post project analysis. Look for deviations Team Management -Building of a team, Important positions in an organization -Finding the right members. Objective-driven. Provide expertise/knowledge. -Tips for managing a team. Effective communication

So good but next time more comprehensive again.
I was able to learn easily by the availability of material that is very simple and clear and easy to understand.
